Training Dates for the NEW CARRY LAW

All dates for classes that have already been given have been removed. Below is the only currently scheduled class date. If/when other classes are scheduled they will be added.

January 17, 2012 at 1:00pm

Please Note: All classes are held at Starr's Cave Nature Center in the Loft (upstairs), unless otherwise noted. Starr's Cave Nature Center is located at 11627 Starr's Cave Road Burlington, Iowa 52601.

It will probably take 2-3 hours. You will need to bring your driver’s license or ID with your current address on it. There will be a $90 fee that will be collected the day of the class. We will only accept cash and checks. The application for the new carry permit will be filled out at the class.

YOU WILL HAVE TO CONTACT THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO SIGN UP FOR TRAINING DATES.

WE ARE LIMITING THE CLASS TO 50 PEOPLE AND YOU HAVE TO BE ON THE LIST IN ORDER TO ATTEND.

Zoning Commission

The Des Moines County Zoning Commission currently has a vacancy that expires January 2012. This is an appointed, volunteer position. If you are willing to accept the succeeding five year term which will end January 2017, please include that with your application.

Meetings are held as needed. Persons interested in applying must be a resident of the County's two-mile zoning area. In order to meet requirements for gender balance, the Supervisors will consider female candidates first.
